character design

Final Product

This project was actually my favorite of all year, and for it we were to create a character in adobe illustrator CS3 using skills learned and used throughout the year. The idea of my character was a zombie version of myself, so I took aspects of myself and how i dress and used skills I've learned to turn basic shapes into a character. Many of the shapes I used and manipulated here are simple circles or ovals. I like dark colors, so I tried to create some emphasis on his clothing using combinations of black, grey, and red. Not only does the final product represent my sketch, but it is much better to me.

Final Product

In this project we were to create a theme for the Google homepage using adobe Illustrator Cs3. The theme was a place in time we would want to visit, so for my project i chose the industrial revolution. As a class we were to use anything and everything we know from previous projects, excluding how to use the 3D tools. I used various objects i associate with the industrial revolution to create "Google". A crane with a wrecking ball forming the G and first O, a wheel forming the second O, gears and a cog for the g, an exhaust tower for the L, and an old clock for the e. Because most of the objects are grey, I decided to create contrast by making a blueprint background. I used many basic shapes, such as circles and squares, to create my objects. In my personal opinion, the final product came out better than the sketch.

Day 4
For this project, we were supposed to do an illustration of our face while also using items that relate to us while using adobe illustrator. In my final product you can see that for my ears i have headphones, my hair looks like pavement and in my forehead you cans see gears, my nose is a motorcycle engine, and my eyes consist of a snake eye and a motorcycle wheel, and my eye brows are made of animal print trails. I tried sticking with a color scheme resembling the flag of El Salvador, which is what the ES on my shirt stands for. I tried creating texture in my eyes and hair with the effects option. I tried to put some emphasis on the eye containing the motorcycle wheel because it seemed a bit bland, so I created a tattoo underneath the eye to draw attention. This final product accurately represent my sketch, mostly because of the magikarp lips and whiskers. That was the most fun part of my project, making myself the "Awkward Fish".

Day 4

Final Product

For this project we were to create a 3D rendering of a product we designed in  adobe Illustrator CS3. We had to use our knowledge of creating 3D effects such as Revolve and Bevel and Extrude. Using these options we could take 2D figures and make them 3D for better effects. I was inspired to create a sound system because of all of the music I've been listening to as of late. And the last party I went to we used many fun lights to high octane music, so I came to the idea of creating a sound system with LED lighting as part of it. The system itself is supposed to be balanced so I used a rectangular shape for the base speaker and two identical round speakers for the sides. I tried to create contrast with the fairly bright green against the shades of grey. I honestly feel as if this final product is better than my original sketch due to several changes I made on the original concept.
