Emotions

Day 1 - Sketch
Day 2
Day 3

Day 4
Final Product

Colored Final Product
So this was pretty much our classes first group project in that our final products would be used together for one big piece. We were all given a specific emotion and through minimalism and symbolism we were to create an icon to represent the emotion. I was given love, to some that might seem easy. Love is an emotion of strong affection and personal attachment to either a person(s) or thing(s). When I was deciding what kind of icon to create I knew I wanted to incorporate the heart in it, but through anther image. So i thought swans, because two mating swans at some point come together and do something that forms a heart with their head and necks. So with this idea in mind I created two swans forming a heart. I started with one swan first and then duplicated it to keep it all symmetrical. My final design resembles my sketch in that it has all of the details I originally had in mind.

Tessellation

DAy 1 - Sketch
Day 2

Day 3

Final Product

In the Tessellation project we were to create our own tessellation design in Adobe Illustrator CS3. We were to use knowledge from our last project, the color wheel, to finish this project. My final product was inspired by the Heartless from Kingdom Hearts. It was actually a hard decision because I had multiple tessellation designs i wanted to choose from for this project, but i stuck with the Heartless. I tried to use a red that wasn't too dark to create contrast in the design, I wanted it to pop out of the basic black background. By repeating the original panel I was able to create the base hexagonal shape, and then the shapes around it. My final product actually looks better than my sketch to me, but that would be because now it has color to support the design.

Color Wheel

This was a one day project we were assigned where using Adobe Illustrator 3 we had to create a color wheel using the elipse tool, polygon tool, pen tool, and paint bucket tool. It was a pretty basic project, but it was useful. For one i got to use a new tool, and work a little more with two other tools i've used before. Of course we manipulated shape using the shape and pen tools, and created contrast with the various colors in the wheel. All in all it was a nice project, and I think it helped me with the project we are now starting.
