Art Competition

Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
Final Product

For this project we were supposed to use either Adobe Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Illustrator CS3 to create a product of our choosing. For my project I chose to use Photoshop and use my photo editing skills to try and create an eerie effect while also displaying a few select items that describe me. So skills from our previous "Zombify" project were a big help; such as blending items and creating effects with the skin. In my final product I tried to create strands of light/energy around my arms to give a mystical effect. I also have four orbs to hold inside objects that I was told represent me best. I tried to make the orbs using circles made with the Elipse Tool. And using the burn tool I tried to create emphasis on my eyes, making them intense. There was no sketch for my final product to represent.

Zombify!

Day 1 - Search for images
Day 2
Day 3 - Final product

In the Zombify project, we were expected to use Adobe Photoshop CS3 to "zombify" or create a horror version of our self. We had to use different textures and use gory effects to make ourselves appear gory or monstrous, having our background match appropriately with our effects. For my final design, i used a cracked concrete texture for my skin and a giant head wound for a missing eye effect to try to make myself seem more dead and gory. I tried to create a more zombie effect by adding gash wounds to my arm and neck, to try and show how I became zombiefied. I tried to create emphasis on me by using a dark, foreboding background. I tried to adjust the various blood splatters to the background i chose to keep things proportional. Seeing as we didn't have a sketch in this project, i don't have one for it to properly represent, but I did use several zombie images as a basis on my design and it properly represents what i wanted to replicate from those images.

TypoObject

Day 1 - Sketch

Day 2
Day 3
Day 4

Final Product

In the TypoObject project, we were to continue demonstrating our skills in Adobe Illustrator CS3 with typography. In this project we were supposed to use a new skill involving the envelope distort option in order to create an object of our choice, using the type and pen tool. The doc. had to be 8.5x11 inches and only one font could be used, like the previous project. Unlike the previous project though, we couldn't use color but instead were able to tamper with the opacity of our project.
Each part of our object had to be made using the name of the object or that specific piece. I chose to do a PS3 controller, creating details such as the SONY and PS insignia in the center with the select and start button, as well as the dpad, top back button, analog sticks, and X, square, circle, and triangle. in the analog sticks i tried to create a texture with amount of letters within the shape and by leaving it darker than the rest. By doing this, i also created contrast in my object, because while the analog sticks were left the darkest the rest of the controller had different levels of opacity for certain parts as well. My final design managed to represent my sketch in that it has everything included in the sketch and even stayed proportional.
